Live Dealer Blackjack Versions
There arfe 2 different types of live blackjack tables that you will find online.
- 7 Seater Blackjack Tables
- Unlimited Blackjack Tables
7 Seart Blackjack Tables
These are the more traditional version of blackjack table and the one that we all know from our visits to land based casinos. Juts like in a brick and mortar casino there are 7 availiable seats on the table and you play with the other players that are sat on the same table.
These tables get very busy and get full especially during peak hours. However, there is a significant additional feature the last few years that solved the problem of limited seats!
The Bet Behind feature allows you to back up a player that is already sat on that table by placing a bet on the players hand. The saeated player will play the hand and if he wins you win, if he loses you loose! You take no part in teh decision making so it is a risky bet.
Live Unlimited Blackjack – Infinite Blackjack
Different software providers have different names for their Unlimited Blackjack tables. For example Playtech is calling this table Unlimited Blackjack or All Bets Blackjack, while Evolution is calling it Infinite Blackjack and Pragmatic Play One Blackjack.
Everyone gets the same cards and are able to make their own choices on the game: hit, stand, split, double or even take insurance or not.
While this verison is essentially the same as 7 seat Blackjack there are a couple of minor differences. For example when there is a split you get the option to double the bet and spliut the hands or fold the hand and get a portion of your initial stake back. In unlimited blackjack teh dealer also doesnt check for Blackjack.
Live Dealer Blackjack Variations
Live dealer blackjack tables have evolved the last few years and apart from the traditional 7 seater and unlimited tables, today we can find a few different variations of the game.
Most tables follow the exact same rules as traditional blackjack but there are some innovative blackjack tables that have slightly different rules or even payouts!
Let’s have a look at these different live blackjack games online.
Free Bet Blackjack
This is one of the newest tables we can find online. Free Bet Blackjack is a live dealer blackjack game by Evolution. It is classic table with unlimited players and with the additional feature of Free Double Down and Free Split Bets on qualifying hands.
What you need to be aware though is that when dealer busts on 22 then your winning bet is pushed. This is a major difference to classic blackjack but it is a compromise for the free splits and double down.
Quantum Blackjack is an innovative live dealer blackjack game by Playtech. It belongs to the new generation of live casino games where there are random multipliers on every betting round which means that the payouts could be different compared to a traditional blackjack game.
In every betting round there are 3 random multipliers on 3 different cards. If these cards show up in the game and you win your hand you win the multiuplier as well.
All Bets Blackjack
This is the perfect live dealer blackjack table for players that like side bets. There are 6 side bets on this table and players who enjoy All Bets Blackjack have a soft spot for side bets and higher payouts.
The side bets that this live dealer blackjack table by Playtech has are: Buster, Top 3, Lucky Lucky, 21+3, Player’s/Dealers Pair.
Power Blackjack is another innovative live dealer blackjack table by Evolution. It is one of the blackjack variations that have slightly different rules compared to traditional blackjack.
It offers you the chance to Double, Triple or Quadruple your initial bet on the first 2 cards but be aware than there are no 9’s or 10’s on the decks!
Even though this table doesn’t have any standout features or is not as innovative it is very popular and this is why we decided to add it here. This is a blackjack table by Evolution that has the lowest minimum bet we can find around.
Live Blackjack Party It is a standard 7 seater that has a party atmosphere, a minimum bet at £0.50, Bet Behind feature and usually not just one but two co-presenters/hosts.
Sette E Mezzo
This is a traditional Italian game which translates as Seven and a Half in English and is also known as Italian Blackjack. It is played with Neapolitan cards and 8s, 9s and 10s are removed from the deck. If you are curious to find out more about this new blackjack game check it out here.
It offers you the chance to Double, Triple or Quadruple your initial bet on the first 2 cards but be aware than there are no 9’s or 10’s on the decks!
|Live Blackjack Table||Software Provider|
|Free Bet Blackjack||Playtech|
|All Bets Blackjack||Evolution|
|Sette E Mezzo||Playtech|
Of course there are also the standard/classic blackjack tables which are available from all software providers and you can find in any online casino. Majority of live dealer blackjack tables that we can find online are
Live Dealer Blackjack Table Limits
Most UK live casinos have blackjack tables with limits from £1 to £10,000.
However there are always exceptions and you might tables with lower or higher limits.
For example there are some VIP blackjack tables that have higher minimum and maximum bets and are ideal for casino high rollers.Soiree Blackjack is one of the most popular VIP Blackjack tables.
Check out the best live casinos for High Rollers!
On the other hand a table that we have already mentioned, Blackjack Party has a minimum bet of £0.50 when you bet behind. This table can be found in UK casinos that are powered by Evolution like Genting and William Hill Casino.
It is always advisable to play with limits that suit your bankroll. So if your bankroll is £50, then it makes more sense to play on a blackjack table that minimum bet is £1-£2 rather than a £10 minimum bet table. That way you can play more hands and enjoy the game for more longer.
But this always depends on the players personal style and it is up to the individual to decide if they want to play with high risk or low risk.
Live Dealer Blackjack Side Bets
Today you can find blackjack side bets in every live dealer blackjack table. A lot of blackjack players like to place a side bet as the payouts are good and it also adds a bit more excitement to the game.
Some tables like All Bets Blakcjack for example have been created with side bets in mind. The most common side bets that you will find in almost every blackjack table are Prefect Pairs and 21+3. These two blackjack side bets are perfect for casino players that want to add some extra action to their game play. Perfect Pairs and 21+ are quite straight forward bets.
With perfect pairs also known as PP, the player wins if the first two cards dealt to a the player are a pair. Perfect Pair pays 30 to 1 ( i.e both clubs), Coloured Pair pays 10 to 1 – Mixed Pair pays 5 to 1
The 21+ side bet is also based on the players first two cards and the dealer’s face card. If the combination of these cards is a straight, a flush, a straight flush, or a three of a kind, then the players wins. All wins pay 9 to 1.
The Live Blackjack Lobby
Every online casino has a live casino lobby where players can find all the available tables for all the casino games.
There, players can choose their live dealer blackjack table depending on their preferences of minimum/maximum stakes, the type of blackjack game and their preferred live dealer.
The layout of the live casino lobby depends on the live casino provider that the casino is using to offer these games. Majority of UK casinos have live dealer blackjack games from Playtech or Evolution.
This is why we find similar live blackjack lobby layouts in different online casinos. Below you can also see an example from an Evolution live blackjack lobby
Regardless of where you choose to play blackjack, all live blackjack lobby’s have similar layouts. You can see the table limits, if the table is full, if you can bet behind and even have a preview of the table.
Most online casinos have a number of different live blackjack dealers, male or female and a number of different tables and limits that you can play at.
Basic Live Dealer Blackjack Tips and Strategies
Blackjack is a casino game that strategy can play a significant role in reducing the house edge if applied properly. A lot of blackjack players play with a specific strategy, following a specific pattern of when to hit, stand, split or double while others are just following some basic blackjack tips.
Like every other casino game there is no magic formula for winning but there are ways to increase our chances.
A very common strategy (which casinos hate) that is harder to apply in our days especially online, is card counting. If you haven’t heard about card counting then you can check what the MIT team did in the past to get a good understanding of that powerful blackjack strategy.
Very briefly, players can count card values and bet more when they have an advantage over the house.
Sounds awesome right?
Well that’s what you could do in the past but not so easy anymore, especially when we are talking about counting cards in live blackjack.
This blackjack strategy is harder to apply in our days because most casinos and especially online casino are changing the card decks very often. This leaves blackjack players with a very short window of time to apply the strategy.
However, it is not all bad news because as we mentioned already there are ways where players can reduce the house edge to the minimum and achieve long term success if they are disciplined 🙂
Different Blackjack Features
Live casinos have a number of blackjack tables with live dealers and these tables might have different features, rules or side bets. Below are the main ones :
- 10 card charlie: players win if they draw 10 cards unless the dealer has a Blackjack
- double 9-11: players can only double down on their first two cards with a value of 9, 10 or 11
- double any 2: players can double down on any first 2 card combination
- hit split Aces: players can hit/draw cards to their split aces, rather than receiving only 1 card
- re-split: players can split a hand that they have already split
- surrender: players can fold their hand before taking any action and forfeit half of the original bet (see more details below)
- side bets: in addition to standard blackjack bets, optional side bets are offered like Pairs and 21+3
- bet behind: you are able to bet behind another player that has already a seat
Players will need to make sure that the table they are playing is for simple version of blackjack, and not another of the many kinds of table games that casinos offer. Look on the table for the phrase “Blackjack pays 3 to 2″ to make sure you are playing classic blackjack.
Basic Blackjack Rules
Ok if you have played blackjack at least once in your life you probablyknow all these basic rules, but we thought we can add them here as a reminder for the newcomers.
- The goal of blackjack is to beat the dealer’s hand without going over 21
- Each player starts with two cards while one of the dealer’s cards is hidden until the end
- When a player chooses to ‘Hit’ he is asking for another card. When a player chooses to ‘Stand’ he is holding the total of the cards he has
- If you go over 21 you bust, and the dealer wins regardless of the dealer’s hand
- If you are dealt 21 from the first two cards you get dealt (Ace & 10), you got a blackjack which means you win 1.5 the amount of your bet * this depends on the blackjack table)
- Dealer will hit until his/her cards total 17 or higher
- Players will also get an option to double sometimes which is like a hit, only the bet is doubled and you only get one more card
- Players can also get the option to split sometimes when they have two of the same card – the pair is split into two hands. Splitting also doubles the bet, because each new hand is worth the original bet.
Value of the Cards
In live blackjack, the cards are valued the same way as normal blackjack as follows:
- An Ace can count as either 1 or 11, as explained below.
- The cards from 2 through 9 are valued at their face value.
- The 10, Jack, Queen, and King are all valued at 10
If you are not already familiar with the card values or other basic rules of blackjack but you are still not very familiar with the game then you can check our Blackjack Rules Guide.
